Ship To Shore is a bespoke wooden boat building company established in 2022. We are based in Boathouse 4 in the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
We currently build and restore small wooden boats up to 15 feet in length. In addition, we are developing some smaller wooden items using traditional boatbuilding techniques. These include oars, paddles, and furniture.
We also offer a repair service for wooden boats and can travel to locations to undertake this type of work.

Our goal starting our business was simple: to create beautiful objects with a timeless quality.
Our boats are handmade in England using heritage, craft skills and sustainable materials.

Latest Updates
Repair and restoration work on the Steam Pinnace 199. She is a 50 foot steam vessel built around 1911 and formerly assigned to HMS Inflexible. She is now part of the collection of the National Museum of the Royal Navy in Portsmouth. We are replacing part of the teak rubbing strake damaged in a collision, and varnishing all the exterior wooden areas.

A 14’ wooden Enterprise dinghy. Currently the hull is in the process of being painted. Once done the boat will be turned and the final details added. The boat was ‘measured’ recently and is awaiting an official number. For sale.

Trafalgar is a 32 foot Cornish gig belonging to the Royal Navy Gig racing association. She sadly suffered damage during the covid lockdown and has numerous cracks to her planking and removable components. We are repairing these and hope to have her back on the water in mid-August so she can be raced again.
